Treatment for Frozen Shoulder

Treatment for frozen shoulder comprises of pain relief medications along with physical therapy. It may take a considerable amount of time in months or even years. Stretching and exercising help in this condition in two ways. They aid in increasing the range of motion of the joint as well as reduce the muscle loss. This should be done in regular intervals of time on daily basis. The regularity should be followed and maintained strictly for best results. The symptoms experienced due to frozen shoulder may be very bothering and the person may have to face too much of pain at times. To ease down this pain, he can give the affected area, a moist, hot sponge. He can then, perform exercises and stretch out but after 15 minutes after sponging. He should do this thrice a day.

Anti-inflammatory medications may also be required along with physical therapy. They are meant to reduce pain and give immense relief. Cortisone injections minimize inflammation of the joint, relieve from pain and thus assist the patient in following physical therapy. The physical therapy includes all sorts of physical exercises and stretching methods that serve as important ingredients for treatment for frozen shoulder plans.

If the patient does not respond to these modes of treatment for frozen shoulder as expected, he is given treated surgically. The doctor may also do manipulation tasks that don’t involve surgery. But that should be done under the effect of anesthesia as the process may extremely be painful for the patient and troublesome for the doctor as well. Another method of doing manipulation is through a small incision and insertion of an arthroscope. Suitable rehabilitation programmes should be started immediately after these processes are done on the frozen shoulder. A frozen shoulder gets fine after these treatments. It may not be perfectly normal as shoulder motion may still be restricted but to a very less extent. Slowly and steadily, it gets better and better with the help of stretching exercises.

Treatment of Shoulder Dislocation

As the doctor does diagnosis of any case and confirms it to be a matter of shoulder dislocation, he may think about the treatment plan for the patient. The treatment of shoulder dislocation depends upon certain factors. He may study these factors to judge about the treatment to be used for that particular case. These factors involve age of the patient and his general health or well-being. He would also study his medical history to know if he had been suffering from any diseases and that would he be able to respond to the treatment well. He also finds out the intensity of the case and find about severity of the accident. Not only this, he would also observe his mental and tolerance level towards certain medications, therapies and treatment processes.

Treatment of shoulder dislocation would also depend upon your opinion. The doctor would learn about your preferences as well. To correct the dislocation, he would move your humerus joint and place it back to the socket. This is done with the help of an anesthetic given to the patient else the process may be too painful for him. This is done very carefully so that the bones don’t get hurt or fractured. The arm is then put on shoulder immobilizer for as many days as required. During this period, the patient may be required to follow some tips to control the swelling. He may be told about some shoulder exercises to regain the extent of motion of the arm. This is done slowly and steadily with lots of care so that the shoulder does not get dislocated again.

In some cases, the treatment of shoulder dislocation is done through surgery which involves insertion of arthroscope through a small cut. The device helps in observation of the inner part of the joint. The surgery is known as arthroscopic surgery. After the surgery, patient may be advised to undergo physiotherapy for few months. If this does not lead to expected improvement, a movement improvement surgery follows.

Laryngitis

Laryngitis indicates the condition in which larynx or voice box, gets infected and inflamed. It may cause difficult speech and sometimes it’s temporary loss. The case may be mild or severe. Mild cases last no more than a few days but severe one may last weeks or even months. Apart from temporary total speech loss, the person may also suffer from hoarseness in the throat area, fever and difficult swallowing and tough breathing. The acute cases happen majorly, because of strained vocal cords due to too much of yelling, crying louder, singing or loud public speaking. Further, the inflammation of the areas is caused by allergies and inhalation of air pollutants including certain harmful chemicals.

Chronic cases of laryngitis result due to over consumption of alcohol and alcoholic drinks for a prolonged period, smoking and over exposure to harmful chemicals and dust. Certain respiratory disorders when, go chronic and reach the advanced stage, result into this major disorder. These disorders are namely sinusitis, bronchitis, allergies and certain nasal issues. Some chronic cases take birth from repetition of milder cases. Symptoms of laryngitis are fever, hoarseness and soreness in the throat, loss of voice or speech and cough. The disease is diagnosed by study of symptoms, physical examination and laryngoscopy that helps in visualizing the status of vocal cords.

The treatment of laryngitis involves dealing with the bacterial infection and this requires recommendation of antibiotics. As the treatment is on avoid speaking louder, especially in public and avoid whispering as the activity puts maximum pressure on the vocal cords. In the meantime, consider having steam inhalations, hot or warm liquid intakes. Simply void alcoholic beverages and cold drinks as these may again trigger the infection. Make sure, you don’t stay in air-conditioned rooms. Following these guidelines, you can ease down the treatment procedure and expect to get back to normal condition very soon.

Throat Abscess

Throat abscess is a form of complication that arises due to some already existing throat problem. Pritonsillar abscess following tonsillitis and acute retropharyngeal abscess resulting from an infection of respiratory system are the two examples that explain the situation. You may or may not be aware about the new problem developing inside you. But some symptoms may lead you to ponder upon them. Even if you know about them, consider consulting your physician who would confirm and clear all your doubts.

You may experience all or some of the symptoms of throat abscess. These symptoms are pain in the throat or nearby areas like ear, drooling, halitosis and certain speech issues. Any throat problem may give pain to the throat but if you feel the pain is spreading to the areas near the throat and reaching towards ears, get a hint from this indication about an additional problem arising from the existing one. You may also find difficulty while swallowing anything. The condition is known as drooling, which is not very common. You should look for a quick medical attention if it happens to you.

Bad breath or halitosis, is a symptom that is hardly associated with throat abscess as many other factors may also be responsible for it. If you find another symptom along with this one, don’t ignore it and rather consult your doctor. Another symptom which should not be ignored is certain speech issues arising while you are already bearing with a throat problem. Though the problem may be very bothersome for most yet some people tend not to get bothered enough and therefore, try to carry on with it. This should never be so. Any speech issue may be serious, whatever is the cause for it. Even if the cause is not the throat abscess, rush to your doctor. The sooner you get yourself checked for any such problem, the better it would be. Treatment of throat abscess also depends upon the how early you reach your doctor for diagnosis.

Iron Deficiency Treatment

Iron deficiency should not be ignored as the person may land on to any emergency, anytime, following any accident. Anemia though may not sound a very serious issue but it may cause many serious complications. So, one should take care that he or she is not subjected to any kind of blood loss, especially the heavy one. So it is better to get it diagnosed. Knowing its degree would help you further about the actions to be taken for iron deficiency treatment. In milder cases, where hemoglobin is not very low, the treatment can be done through intake of iron rich foods. But in severe cases, where iron level is much lower than the normal range, one needs to take additional iron supplements on routine basis. The doctor prescribes about the type and dosage of the supplement to be taken.

The supplement ferrous sulphate comes as a very suitable option for severely iron deficient people. While you are having the supplement, consider checking if your blood is absorbing it or not. Sometimes due to any reason, iron absorption does not take place. At such a situation, it is worthless taking these supplements. Therefore, always seek doctor’s advice and keep checking your hemoglobin. Once you know your hemoglobin has reached the normal range, discontinue the supplement intake or else too much of iron in the blood may also cause many health problems. Iron deficiency may get worsen, if the person keeps having iron supplements which does not suit him.

In some iron deficiency cases, where the patient is not able to have iron supplements orally, intravenous iron injections are given. It saves life from constant blood loss and other related problems. In other words, it answers the situations where oral iron supplementation does not seem to work. As the person revives back, he can get back to normal life but considering routine medical checkups.

Vitamin A Deficiency

Vitamin A deficiency can be very bad for anyone’s health. It is recorded as a common health issue in developing countries. The first symptom of its deficiency is found to be night blindness. The person finds difficulty in having clear vision in the dark. This symptom alone calls for increase in vitamin A amount in his diet. He may require additional supplements that are rich in vitamin A. If this is done on time, the problem may be sorted out. But if the measures are not taken on time, this later on takes the form of complete blindness. Vitamin a supplements contain heavy amounts of the vitamin in the form of retinyl palmitate.

People of all ages may suffer blindness. Even pregnant women, who have been malnourished or undernourished, are found to get blind. The outcome of pregnancy and lactation process also, never seem to go healthy. The women mortality rate due to this reason is considerably on high. Due to vitamin A deficiency, the ability of the body or body immunity to fight with numerous infections also goes down. The person gets easily trapped to diseases. In poor countries where people don’t really bother about getting vaccinated, these problems are seen most.

To overcome vitamin A deficiency, foods that are rich in the vitamin should be consumed in good quantities. If any lactating mother is deficient in this vitamin, her milk would also have less vitamin A content. As a result the breast-fed baby of such a mother would be undernourished. There can be many other causes of vitamin A deficiency like iron deficiency which impacts vitamin A absorption. To fulfill this need of the body, one sure can have supplements. But people who are alcoholics should consider doctor’s advice before having it as this may also lead to vitamin A toxicity. The supplements may really help in fighting the increasing mortality rate in poor countries.

Nose-job Side-effects

Getting a dream nose may be an important aspect for anyone but the associated risks and effects should also be taken into consideration. Though nose correction surgeries contribute to today’s trend of cosmetic means yet it is wiser to note if the health would be affected due to this or not and if it would then how. There can be many nose-job side-effects. The person may have to bear a lot even if the surgery has been successful. Nose surgeries can be very painful and bothering since they involve alteration of the bone. Interestingly enough, most of the people in wake of getting ‘good looks’ cope up with the pain quite well.

One of the common nose-job side-effects is swelling. As the surgery involves reshaping of the tissues, these tissues later on heal and for that, adjust accordingly. The swelling may occur mainly below the eyes and around the nose. Initially, it may give a very weird look but later on it shows less. As the time passes, it gets lesser further and diminishes finally. Some people may find very little swelling for a longer period. It may persist even for about 5-6 months. The patient may keep feeling slight discomfort during this swelling.

Another side-effect of the surgery is, bruising. This also happens mainly around the eyes. Some patients have to bear with more of it and some find it lesser comparatively. This also may leave ugly dark patches in the area. This gives really a pathetic look to the patient. Though there are no associated complications with bruising, yet people find it to be very disturbing as it looks quite noticeable and ugly. For those who had undergone the surgery for good looks, it may be very disappointing though they are told about the fact that this would disappear in a matter of time. Every person planning for the surgery should talk to his or her doctor about all nose-job side-effects so that they are prepared in advance and know how to cope with them.

Atrophic Rhinitis

Atrophic rhinitis also known as Ozaena means inflammation of nose cavity. It is also characterized by thinning down of nose membranes. The nasal cavity widens, crusts form in there and the person loses smelling power. Not only this, the person also develops a strange odor which is noticed by everyone around him, accept him. This may at times, bring sheer embarrassment to him. The crusting of nasal cavity can be treated through nasal irrigation which is achieved through flushing of the crust out by water. The person also needs to inhale saline water or even plain water. If one finds it difficult, syringes may be used to do that. This should necessarily be done as formation of mucus crusts may obstruct breathing. If this is done regularly, the formation of crusts can well be avoided.

In atrophic rhinitis cases, the mucus bodies obstruct breathing as well as increase the probability of infections also. Therefore, apart from regular cleaning of nasal cavities, the doctor may also administer antibiotics. These antibiotics would not let infection sustain and that strange odor stay as they kill the bacteria responsible for that odor. Other methods of treatment also follow like application of topical ointments. These ointments help keep the nasal cavity surface moist. This avoids the formation of crusts.

Atrophic rhinitis is hereditary and can pass on through generations. Though people having it in their families’ past are very likely to have it yet they can adopt some precautionary measures atleast for prevention of further nasal infection. Washing of hands frequently, washing of fruits and veggies before eating or cooking them, cooking meat quite often and maintaining basic hygiene can help them keep away not only from related infection but also from other health problems. It would be better if you avoid having sinus surgery as that triggers its symptoms. See if you have any nutritional deficiency like deficiency of any vitamin or iron. If there is any, try to satisfy it through a fulfilling diet.

Muscle Stiffness

Muscle stiffness is a very common muscle issue which must have been experienced by every person, anytime. Even though, it happens quite often for some people yet it is experienced more by people who are growing aged. Generally, the issue is not given much concern since it gets fine after sometime. Its common symptoms are pain that stays temporarily. The body parts that are commonly affected are ankles, neck, shoulders or any part of the back. In cases, where its impact persists it is treated by simple household treatments. But, when the problem takes a chronic form, it is termed as fibromyalgia. Another term that describes this condition is fibrositis.

Usually, people mistake the pain associated with muscle stiffness to that of joints. People suffering from arthritis may also get confused because of it. Due to this pain and soreness, the muscle movement gets restricted. The milder cases happen due to poor circulation of blood and therefore the need of oxygen in these areas causes the formation of lactic acid thereby causing stiffness in the muscles. The muscles that stay contracted in some position for longer period, experience this stiffness. Sometimes, the pain gets unbearable. To treat it, the person may require suitable massage or physiotherapy.

People experiencing muscle stiffness very often may consider having daily massage or attend physiotherapy classes on regular basis. Movements like stretching also help in attaining normalcy of muscle movements. Exercises like swimming also give immense relief. To avoid this muscle problem, one should keep his or her body fit and fine. Regular walks and yoga does not let the problem persist for longer. Aging people experiencing the problem should not necessarily consider it as the cost of this age. There may be other factors responsible for it, apart from the age factor. Rather than feeling bad about their age, they should try to change their lifestyle.
